To be filled in my parent/carer
Your child should carry and inhaler in their school bag, sports bag and have the facility to leave a spare reliever inhaler in the medical centre for emergency use. All Medication should be handed in to the Nurse in the medical centre on the first day of term.
For shortness of breath, sudden tightness in the chest, wheeze or cough, help or allow my child to take the medicines listed above. After treatment and as soon as they are assessed by the School Nurse and feel better they can return to normal activities in school.
1.
Sit Child up straight - Keep calm. CALL
THE SCHOOL NURSE IMMEDIATELY! Extension 431
2. Assist them to take one puff of the reliever
inhaler (usually
blue) every 30-60 seconds up
to 10 puffs. Ask someone to collect the Asthma response kit.
3.
If there is no improvement in their breathing, they don’t feel better and they
look pale, call 999 for an ambulance. Give Location
on site, and Postcode GU28 ONB
4.
If after 10 minutes the symptoms are not improving, repeat step 2. Make sure you have access
to the emergency Asthma response kit.
5.
If your symptoms are no better after repeating step 2, and the ambulance has
still not arrived, contact 999 again immediately! After 22.00 pm
the emergency crews need a key code to enter the premises.
